Beacon Bible Camp is a non-profit organization that exists to provide an adventurous Christian camping experience where people, particularly youth, can be encouraged to respond to the gospel of the Lord Jesus and to grow in their Christian life.

Fall Fundraiser

Fall Fundraiser

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
— Psalm 127:1 (ESV)

Beacon has been blessed to find ourselves in a financially stable position. Over the last few years, careful spending of our money meant that we had some funds still in the bank, even after refunding almost $125,000 of deposits. These last few months have been difficult, but using the money we had in the bank and with some timely donations, we are able to project that we will end this year safely.

Our focus for most of 2020 has been on our campers, families and staff, including our innovative Beacon Unlimited program. As we look to the future, we know that we have work to do on our facilities to be ready for next year. Although we’re disappointed not to have campers at Beacon this fall, we are hoping to use this quiet time at camp to prepare for next year and tackle some bigger projects that aren’t normally possible.

The reality is that to accomplish these projects, we need your help. Using most of our reserves means that we don’t have the ability to tackle most of these projects with some support from our Beacon family. Our hope is to raise $40,000 before the end of this year to help with this planning and preparation. We have several projects that we want to complete:

$15,000 | Operational Funds for 2021

It is not clear what next year holds - although we are praying that God will allow us to have campers at Beacon in the summer of 2021, we are not sure at this point. We have used most of our reserves this year to sustain ourselves, and need to start rebuilding that reserve in case next year is just as difficult as this one.

$5,000 | Modifications to camp due to covid-19

The COVID-19 pandemic brings changes to the way that camp has to operate - there is a new reality when it comes to keeping campers healthy and safe. We won’t be able to serve food family-style in the Dining Hall, and we’re rethinking our washroom and sleeping accommodations.

$500 | Keys for Kids Devotionals

We’re always looking to expand the way that we bring Christ into the lives of our campers. and partnering with Keys for Kids has been a great way to connect with them. A $500 gift sends a devotional magazine to 20 families for a full year, helping them meet Jesus daily no matter where they are.

The following capital projects are listed in order of priority - if the Lord wills it and the funds are available, our facilities to-do list will be a lot shorter next summer!

$2,000 | finish wheelhouse renovations

Guest groups have enjoyed the upgrades to the Wheelhouse, and we want to finish updating the last two bedrooms to finish off the renovation completely!

$3,000 | Repair Roof of Upper Washroom

Our upper washrooms serve Ash, Birch, Cedar and Elm cabins, and the existing roof is leaking. It needs a new one to prevent damage to the rest of the building during rough weather. We’re still exploring a full renovation of the washrooms, if the funds are available, but this roof will put us in a good place, no matter what the decision.

$5,000 | REpairs and Maintenance of Kitchen + Dining HAll

With camp empty, we are deep cleaning the fridge and freezer, repairing the cooling systems, and updating other small parts of the kitchen. We’re also planning to patch and repair the walls in the Dining Hall - a room that gets a lot of use and love from campers throughout the year.

$7,000 | renovate and upgrade willow

Willow is the last lodge that needs to be updated from its original look. We’re replacing the carpet with easy-to-clean vinyl planks, repainting the walls, replacing trim and adding a new pine ceiling to bring the look into the 21st century and match the Wheelhouse.

$2,500 | Small repairs around camp

There are various small repairs around camp that need to happen, including repairing decks, fixing program equipment, replacing screens and other small items. There are too many to list here, but these funds will help us keep camp ready for when we can re-open.

The MatCh Program

We’re grateful that a group of donors has assembled half the funds we already need to complete these projects. Some of these funds have been given to camp and some funds have been pledged. We’re hoping that you will consider helping us match their generosity and get to $40,000 before the end of the year. Any donations given on this page or with the Memo Line “Fall Fundraiser” will count towards our match!
