Staff Resources

Staff Resources

Thank you for volunteering at Beacon. We want you to feel fully equipped for your time at camp. We've gathered some resources that you may find helpful leading up to camp as you prepare - some of these are mandatory trainings or forms you must complete, while other sections are full of ideas and plans that you can use to make a week of camp extra special for the children in your care. If you have any questions about anything on this page, please contact Alyssa LaRocque at staff@beaconbiblecamp.com. If you haven’t already applied to be a staff member at camp, please click on “Staff Portal” below and register right away. On the staff portal, you will be asked to create a user and then fill out a form based on the position you hope to volunteer for at camp.

Training Modules (Didacte)

Staff training is conducted through an online training platform called Didacte. Once you submit your staff application, you will be enrolled and given further instructions for which modules you need to complete.

We always prefer if staff are trained in person at our Staff Training events (including ReKindle, our staff training weekend each spring), so these online training modules are designed to provide basic coverage for those who can't attend our events. Click below to access the Didacte Portal and log in.

Police Check Information

In order to volunteer at Beacon, we require proof of a Police Check completed in the last three calendar years. Beacon accepts current police checks from other organizations, but may need to see the original upon request.

If you are in regular contact with children at camp (as a cabin leader, program staff, teacher or director), we require that your Police Check also include Vulnerable Sector Screening. Due to insurance regulations, we are no longer able to use online police check services for police checks which also require vulnerable sector screening - you must request your screening from your local police service.

Staff positions which don't have regular contact with campers (maintenance, cooks, etc.) do not require a Vulnerable Sector Screening. These checks can be performed online, through MyBackCheck. A $25 fee applies for this online screening, but results are available in less than 48 hours.

If your local police service offers a discount on police checks acquired for volunteer purposes, please contact the camp office to receive a volunteer recommendation letter.
