2021 Day Camp Program Staff

Day Camp Program Staff

Beacon is excited to be running a day camp this summer! There will be one day camp weeklong session on August 22 - 26, 2022. We are seeking energetic staff who are willing to volunteer a week of their time to serve kids in this new way!

DAY CAMP Program STAFF DUTIES

Day Camp Program Staff are responsible for leading and guiding groups through activities, managing camper behaviour, and ensuring that campers are safe and healthy.

Our day camp age ranges are 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, and, in some cases, 15-17. Campers will arrive around 8:45am and leave at 4:45pm from Monday to Friday. Program Staff will be assigned a specific group of campers, called a cohort, and will lead this same group for the whole session, to follow COVID-19 day camp guidelines. There will always be 2 Program Staff with a camper group.

Our summer-long Camp Crew staff will be present to explain and run certain activities. For example, if two Program Staff and their group of campers will visit archery, there will be a designated Camp Crew archery instructor at that location to explain the rules, demonstrate the skill, and direct activities, and the 2 Program Staff will work alongside the campers to help them do as the instructor has said.

Campers and staff must comply with Public Health Ontario’s Guidelines for Day Camps as well as the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s recommendations.

ACCOMODATIONS

Day Camp Program Staff will arrive on Sunday night prior to the start of their session and leave after the session ends on Friday. Each Program Staff will stay in their own cabin so that they can be unmasked in their own living quarters. In the evenings, Program Staff may interact with other onsite staff according to public health guidelines for camps (masking, physical distancing, hand hygiene, etc.).
