Family camps are back and better than ever! We’re taking everything we love about our Agape and Oasis family camps and bringing it all together for a week of fun for everyone. Families will spend time together in God’s beautiful creation, and participate in activities around camp.

Each day, families will spend time together in worship. While parents learn during a morning teaching time and small group discussion, our Beacon program staff will run a modified day camp program for each age group. Afternoons are full of fun programmed activities around camp, as well as self-guided, socially distant opportunities to explore Beacon’s 400 acre property.

We know that things will look slightly different than past years, but we are excited for the chance to pour into families that want to spend time together,

Family Camp 1: Rolling Thunder

PAtrick Garrett

Patrick has ministered alongside youth and their families since 2000 to serve and lead, and has worked alongside people from within various sectors: retail; factory; administration & recreation. He enjoys the opportunity to meet and respect different people in different circumstances as an ambassador for Christ. He is the husband to Kimberly and the father of “the Fantastic Five”: Matthew, Meghan, Josiah, Hannah and Adelaide. He now pastors a congregation in Northern Ontario. He is passionate about pursuing God and leading others to do the same. Patrick’s children have attended Beacon in the past and he has served as a cabin leader at Senior Boys.

Family Camp 2: Forest Glade

Rowan Fraser

Rowan grew up in Toronto and Mississauga. When he was in his grade 12 year, he cried out to the Lord, knowing that he didn’t have the strength to live this life on his own and he willingly turned it over to the Lord. He felt a hunger to know God and His Word like never before, which led him to worship and serve in a variety of ministries throughout the years (e.g., within his local church as a Sunday School teacher and youth group leader and at Bible Camps in Muskoka and the US, as a cabin leader, teacher, director and board member). He desires to serve and encourage others to pursue the Lord with passion and for all to grow in their obedience, joy and knowledge of the Word. Rowan & Joy were married in 2004 and have been attending Redemption Durham since 2012 with their 4 bright and precocious children: Malachi, Gabrielle, Sean and Andrew.

Family Camp 3: Lofty Mountain

Scott Vanderform

Scott and Rebecca come from long-time Beacon families and love to see the mission of Gospel ministry continue at camp. They have been serving and teaching at Wilderness for the past 17 years. Together with Sophia, Abi, and Micah they live in London, Ontario where they pursue growing, loving, laughing and worshiping God with other families in their church and community. Scott leads a team in a small manufacturing facility while Rebecca is a homeschool mom and Registered Nurse.

Family Camp 4: Gentle Breeze

Steve Lambert

Steve & Becky met at Beacon in 2011 and got married in 2014. They have two young daughters, MJ and Hannah. Their home is Toronto where Steve pastors Forward Baptist Church and where Becky worked as a midwife before becoming a full-time mom. They love camp, and in a normal summer would be directors of Cornerstone (formerly known as Alpha) and also serve at Oasis Family Camp.

COVID-19 Protocols

Beacon is required to follow all health guidelines provided by the Province of Ontario and Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit. We want our campers to be happy and safe. While we’re working hard to provide a camp experience as “normal” as possible, there will be some changes required to accommodate for safety and distancing. As of registration launch on March 1, 2021, we do not have final regulations from the health unit, and will be in frequent contact with registered families as the summer approaches. If you have any questions, read our Parent Information page below, or contact the camp office for more details.
