One of Beacon's greatest blessings is our amazing staff. To celebrate them, and introduce you to who they are, we feature them on our blog: Staff Saturdays!

Staff Name: Hannah Klingbile
Camp Name: Confetti
Lives: Windsor, Ontario

How long have you been attending/serving at Beacon?
I've come to Beacon as a cook, a counsellor, and a camper for six (way too short) summers!

What camp have you helped out at recently and what were some highlights?
The last camp I got to help with was Sr. Boys 2015 - cooking for a full camp of Sr. Boys means tripling every recipe! But, as a cabin leader at Jr. Girls, my favorite thing has always been singing with my girls in the lighthouse - and making up stories every night based on their crazy ideas!

What are your personal favourite food, place and activity at camp?
Food:
JUNGLE BARS!!!
Place: The ridge - the perfect spot for reading, praying, berry-picking (and munching), and stargazing!
Activity: Worship in the Lighthouse!!!

What are you up to these days?
I'm coming up to the end of University of Windsor's Concurrent BFA/BEd/ECE program! So whenever I'm not studying, writing lesson plans or making artwork, I'm working as an Assistant in Latchkey Daycare and as a Respite Worker. But in my free time, I love making presents for people and learning how to make music on new instruments - from harp to banjo to ukulele!

What’s a talent or hobby of yours that your campers might not know about?
One of my favorite hobbies is actually making art based on the time I spend with God. As often as I can, I make artworks based on my Bible readings and prayer times with God. Most of my art is done with inks, like watercolor paintings. It's hard not to be inspired by a God as big as ours!

Why do you love volunteering at Beacon?
The people at Beacon - workers, volunteers, campers, cooks, or otherwise - aren't just friends; they're my family! Volunteering at Beacon helps me connect with other Christians all over Canada, and most importantly, helps me grow stronger in my relationship with God!
