Calling All Spring Volunteers!

Luke LaRocque

It's that time of year... the sun is starting to shine, the birds are returning from their southerly vacation homes... and Beacon needs help getting ready for the summer!

Each year, Beacon offers a couple of work days for volunteers to come up and help with setting up our camp facilities. They're great days full of fun and laughter, and it's always amazing to see what a few people can accomplish in just a few hours.

With the increase in busyness for everyone, we've had lots of folks telling us that they'd love to come help, but don't have those Saturdays available. So, we're switching it up! We're offering three different spring volunteer options for you to help out, if you'd like to join us!

June Work Day
This year, we're only offering one official work day, on Saturday, June 16, 2018. We'll be ready to work right after breakfast (about 9:00am), and we usually work until about 3:00pm in the afternoon. If you want to come up to camp the night before, feel free! We'll serve breakfast in the morning, and lunch as well! Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and we especially love it when families chose to give a day to help out - it's a great way for moms and dads to model a servant heart with your kids.

Spring Volunteers
We're excited about this one: In 2018, we're making camp available to those who have free time and want to volunteer, but need to come during the week. Starting on May 15 (and until June 20), we're ready to welcome anyone who has time to volunteer. If you want to come for an afternoon, or for two weeks, we'll host you! Food and accommodations are on us if you're planning to volunteer overnight. There are all sorts of different ways that you can help this spring, including:

  • landscaping and outdoor maintenance
  • program organization and support
  • baking projects and kitchen preparation
  • cleaning of cabins and other buildings
  • some office administrative work

Although we are aiming more towards our university and college-aged friends with this one, we're open to anyone helping. Have an idea for how to help? Reach out to us!

Service Weekend
Also new this year, we're offering a service weekend for church and chapel youth groups to get involved with their peers in serving God at Beacon. In 2018 we're setting up a trial weekend with just one church, but if you'd like to talk with us about 2019 (or in the fall of 2018?), contact Kodiak at director@beaconbiblecamp.com for more details about how that might work!

There's something for everyone! If you have the time, we have the opportunity. We'd love to see you join us for a little while (or a long while) this spring, and we want you to know how much it means to us that our Beacon family is so amazing in all the ways
