Summer Wrap-Up: Senior Girls

Alyssa LaRocque

Dash here! Senior Girls has been full with a waiting list since about 10 hours into registration in February, so the atmosphere of camp is very positive because every girl was intentional about being here. Here are some of the highlights of the past week:

Favourite Moments: The directors put a lot of work into making two complete Giant Dutch Blitz sets, and the result was a smashing success! The girls absolutely loved working in teams to get all the cards in place, shouting and cheering and participating actively. On the crafts side of things, the girls were given a lot of freedom to use the basic components of popsicle sticks, decorating materials and a ton of hot glue to achieve very creative results! Other highlights included a Messy Day at the beach full of lots of splashing and fun, and great brain work going on in the escape rooms.

Silliest Moments: What would Senior Girls be without its skits? Various staff members brought smiles to faces with the daily skit that illustrated aspects of the story of Ruth from the morning lesson times. The campers had their turn to be dramatic with the skit night presentations - the shrieks of the actresses and the laughs from the crowd could be heard all over camp!

Meaningful Moments: The morning speaker, Charis, drew many insightful lessons from the story of Ruth for the campers. In the evenings, many different speakers who had a message on their hearts were able to speak, and the girls and cabin leaders alike were encouraged.

The Weather Report: We experienced quite perfect summer weather over the past week: hot during the day, cool during the night. A rolling thunderstorm during a lunch time mid-week was the only rain we had to deal with. The bugs also behaved themselves - they are always present, but in much lower numbers than in other years. In other words, there was a lot of be thankful for!

As this is being written, the girls are playing another great round of Giant Dutch Blitz as they savour their last full day at camp. It was a privilege to have such a wonderful group of young ladies here all week!
